What Grading & Site Prep Actually Means
Grading is the work of moving dirt to create a smooth, stable surface with the right shape and slope. Site preparation is everything that comes before construction, paving, or planting — clearing debris, establishing elevations, compacting pads, and making sure water drains away from the areas you care about.
A lot of properties we work on in Marion County start with one problem: the ground is rough, uneven, or holding water. Sometimes it's from years of neglect. Sometimes it's the leftover disturbance after clearing. Sometimes the previous owner dumped fill in the wrong place. Whatever the cause, the fix is usually a combination of cutting, filling, raking, and shaping until the surface does what it needs to do.
We don't engineer drainage systems, but we do grade with drainage in mind — sloping pads away from buildings, tying grades into natural swales, and avoiding flat spots where water sits.
